There’s a theme to most baby sleep regressions and that is… development! However, as we discuss each baby sleep regression in detail, you’ll recognize signs that a regression may be coming and will be better prepared for how to handle it if/when it does. It really does take you by surprise because it often comes out of nowhere! It may seem that they’ve forgotten how to sleep while they focus on something new, but again, it should only be for a short period of time. Regression itself is defined as, “a return to a formal or less developed state.” ![]() This will cause most parents to panic, but know that it is (or should be) temporary! This is a period of time (usually 1-4 weeks) where your baby starts to wake more often at night or goes on an anti-nap strike. We will talk about every sleep regression your baby may experience and how to survive them in the meantime without going crazy from sleep deprivation. There’s good news- baby sleep regressions are temporary! But, how do you survive them!? Sleep regressions imply that your previously well sleeping baby is suddenly not sleeping anymore and therefore neither are you! This may be the most dreaded sleep term for all parents. ![]()
